Horse Show Number 1 - 2009

We had a great Day on May 30th. I was trying to be two places at once with two busy kids. Thank heaven's for a husband and sisters. Dave was in charge of Zach and getting him to his Karate testing. I had Ali with me, we got up at 5:30 to go to my parents house and wash her horse. Grandma Diane made her breakfast with Hayley and Jaxsen, while Christy, Andrea and I washed horses (mostly Andrea and Christy - they are horse washing champs).
After that was completed Ali went with Christy to the West Jordan Arena and I went to get a cat carrier at my house and ice. Hilerie's cat Smokey decided to be a stow away and got in the horse trailer the night before, she didn't discover that until she was at the arena. ha ha ha

Anyway, on my way to the arena I stopped and watched Zach earn his yellow belt. WHEW! What a day. Dave and I have the best kids ever!
All the kids tore it up. They did so awesome and made us all proud. Hayley rode Tahoe and even though he is an old man, he still wants to rip up the dirt. Surprised cowgirl Hayley when he took off like a jet to run poles. Emily and Ty both rode Cocoa, Ali on Spinning Jet. It was a great morning and we were done by 1:00pm. Nothing like the horse shows when I was growing up that ended at 2:00 in the morning, and lasted both Friday and Saturday ALL day long.
After the horse show we got shakes at Riley's, for Dad, Zach, & Grandma J and went to Grandma Jeanne's house where Dave and Zach were helping grandma tear down her fence and clean up her yard. When Ali & I got there, Zach was flat on the couch with a fever, and Grandma Jeanne was gone with Aunt Bette.
:( Zach fought a fever all weekend and he just felt lousy. Took him to the doctor on Monday and he had Strep. Took Ali with me to the doctor also, and found out she had strep too, just wasn't showing any signs of it yet.

Here are some pictures of our fun weekend, until the fevers hit.

Our Karate Kid

Zach started karate a few months ago and he absolutely loves it. He asks every day, "Do I have karate tomorrow"? We are so happy that he has found something that he enjoys so much.

On May 30th, Zach earned his White Belt with a Yellow Stripe.

There are three rules they have to abide by:

1 - Obey your parents

2 - Keep your room clean

3 - No Fighting

For the first little while he would say #1 Disobey your parents. He didn't even realize what he was saying. It was pretty funny.
#3 he would say, don't fight your sister.

We love you Zach!! Keep up the good work.

First Camping Trip 2009

We went on our annual Memorial Day camping trip to Flaming Gorge. We had a great time with our cousins, Neil, Lynda, Tyler and DaKota. Friday night a storm came in while we were out on the lake. On our way back into shore, the waves were white capping, and swells were quite large. I dropped Dave off at the dock and he went to get the truck. I told him his water shoes were under his seat. I turned to go around the island and waves were coming up over the boat. The kids did really well. Didn't seem to scared, I tried to stay calm for them, but it was a little scary. Dave got out to the truck and had his pants rolled up to his knees. Didn't help though cause the first wave that came in hit him in the chest, so he was soaked any way. It took two tries to get the boat on the trailer. We went to camp and made hot dogs for dinner. Roasted in the fire. mmmm they were good. This trip we had to watch Zach, he was a little fire bug. Just wanted to keep adding wood to the fire. He would say "we need more fire".
On Saturday night Neil and Lynda made dinner. It was sooo good. Dutch Oven - Neil is a pro.

It was a really wet weekend, just like the whole year so far. We were staying until Monday morning, but with all the rain the kids beds got soaked. Our nylon tent just couldn't handle that much rain. Ali woke up in the middle of the night and said that her bed was wet. She slept with us. Sunday morning we packed up and headed home. It was nice to have Monday to relax a little.

This was in Vernal, at the gas station we always stop to get gas at on our way. Kind of fun!
Ali and a nice Bass

Just Fishin! Ali had to have a life jacket for her dog. So we appeased her.

Zach and Dad playing Catch.

Zach caught a fish all by himself. We couldn't get him to hold it though for a picture.

Chillin in bed, trying to stay dry, watchin a movie during one of the many thunder storms.
You can see Zach didn't make it.

Preschool Graduation

Zachary is moving on to Kindergarten this year. We are so proud of him. On May 20th, he had preschool graduation. Can't believe that he is growing up so fast. They were pretty cute Alligator's, with a darling alligators cake. We love Miss Lisa! They put on a great program. Zach was the leader and held the American Flag during the pledge of Allegiance.

Puppy Lovers Band

I have a daughter with a dream.

Alicyn goes into her room and works for hours at her desk.

While helping her clean her room I found the puppy lover's band. Anyone want to join? There is a sign up sheet.
